For SaleCustom Build
This custom-built .280 Ackley Improved was designed for hunters and long-range shooters who demand magnum-like performance, exceptional accuracy, and lightweight field carry characteristics. Built on the dependable Weatherby 307 action, this rifle combines premium components with a rugged custom finish, resulting in a rifle that is equally capable in the mountains, on the range, or in the backcountry.
At the heart of the build is a premium 24-inch BSF carbon fiber barrel featuring a 1:9 twist rate, ideal for stabilizing today's high-performance hunting and long-range bullets. BSF barrels are manufactured using a match-grade 416R stainless steel barrel core that is precision rifled and hand-lapped before being wrapped in a proprietary carbon fiber sleeve. The carbon fiber construction significantly reduces overall weight while maintaining the rigidity necessary for exceptional accuracy. Unlike traditional heavy-profile steel barrels, the BSF design delivers comparable stiffness at a fraction of the weight, making the rifle easier to carry during long days afield without compromising performance.
The carbon fiber jacket also promotes efficient heat dissipation by increasing surface area and allowing heat to move away from the barrel more effectively. This helps maintain consistency during extended shooting sessions and minimizes point-of-impact shift associated with barrel heating. The result is a lightweight, precision-engineered barrel capable of delivering outstanding accuracy, durability, and repeatable long-range performance.
The barreled action is paired with a premium AG Composites stock, known for its lightweight construction, exceptional strength, and superior ergonomics. Built using advanced carbon fiber materials, the stock provides a rigid platform that enhances accuracy while keeping overall rifle weight to a minimum—an important advantage for serious hunters covering challenging terrain.
Completing the build is a professionally applied Mil-Spec OD Green Cerakote finish, providing outstanding corrosion resistance and durability while giving the rifle a clean, purposeful appearance suited for any hunting environment.
